#1. Recreational Facilities
South Surrey has so much to offer including swimming pools, an arena, an arts centre, many sports fields and a skatepark to name a few. If you want to get out get active and be a part of the community or flex your art muscles, South Surrey has so much to offer.
#2. Parks and Beaches There are many great parks, playgrounds, and walking trails in the South Surrey and White Rock area. One of my favourites is Crescent Beach. It’s not only a great spot to go for a walk along the seaside but also a great place to have a picnic, go for a swim in the summer or even enjoy an ice cream or meal at the local restaurants and cafes. Crescent Beach also has its own Swim Club that is popular with families for swimming lessons during the summertime. If you are looking for some beach time with your dog, Crescent beach also has a dog park at Blackies Spit.
#3. Schools
South Surrey is growing with many families moving into the area and the demand is high for schools. With the high demand, schools have been a little crowded so a brand new high school was built in 2021 along with some new elementary schools and more on the way. t Programs that are offered here in Surrey and specifically South Surrey are French Immersion, an Arts Program, Montessori, and an Outdoor Program. South Surrey also has some great private schools including Southridge, White Rock Christian, and Star of the Sea.
4. Variety of Properties
If you're thinking of moving to South Surrey and you're not sure if you want a condo, townhouse, or a detached home, well South Surrey has them all! There are even acreage properties here as well. For first-time home buyers, there are great condo and townhouse properties. If you’re looking to downsize, there are also great options including condos with age restrictions, townhouses in gated communities, and assisted living.
5. Shops and Restaurants
There is no need to drive into Vancouver to do your shopping, you can do most of it in South Surrey. From big box stores to locally owned shops, there is a variety of options to meet your needs. There are a good number of restaurants, fast-food establishments, and cafes with a mix of restaurant chains and individually owned businesses. You won’t be bored when it comes to eating out or ordering in.

#6 The Weather
If you like a mild climate, you don't want to shovel a lot of snow, and you don't want extremely hot summers, South Surrey is the place to be! South Surrey and White Rock receive about 20% more sunshine than Vancouver, resulting in a little less rain in this somewhat rainy corner of British Columbia.
