Removing Strata & Age Restrictions?


The BC government has recently made changes to the Strata Property Act to remove restrictions on rentals and age on strata properties. What does that mean for you as a buyer, a seller, a homeowner, or a renter?

Up until these changes to the strata property act were made, Stratas could have 19+ or 45+ age restrictions. This would mean that young people wanting to start a family would have to move out and those with children could not buy in those buildings. Retirement communities of 55+ will continue to keep their age restriction.

Ending age restrictions on strata properties can help young families and first-time home buyers have more options for homes.
